Experienced Orchestral Violist, Versatile Event Musician and Teacher.
I made my concerto debut at the age of eleven and pursued my studies at the Royal College of Music, where I was honored with three major viola prizes upon graduation.
My career began with a permanent position at the BBC Symphony Orchestra, with whom I toured extensively and performed in numerous Prom concerts. Subsequently, I served as Sub-Principal Viola with the English National Opera for nine years, collaborating with leading British orchestras and ensembles while also teaching and giving recitals.
From 1998 until 2021, I held the position of Principal Viola at Welsh National Opera, where I performed major orchestral solos on radio and television and served as a guest Principal with esteemed national orchestras like CBSO, RPO, BSO, RLPO, and BBCPO.
I continue to give solo recitals and offer consultations and private teaching, both independently and at Cardiff University. I am proud to be a member of the Cardiff-based viola quartet Absolute Zero and explore the repertoire for guitar, flute, and viola as a member of Still Life with Guitar.
In 2002, I acquired Europe's first Pellegrina pomposa model viola, a groundbreaking instrument that I am privileged to champion as a significant innovation in string design.
